Earlier in Bollywood, actresses who wore specs were termed ‘behenji’, and literally were the Bollywood counterparts of ‘Ugly Betty’. They were coy and were portrayed as someone who doesn’t have confidence at all. Remember, ‘Aye Shivani Tu Lagti Hai Nani’ from ‘Khubsoorat’. However, the trend has changed now. Actresses have worn specs on-screen and off-screen, and rocked it with a panache, bringing back the iconic ‘chashmish’ look.
