Australia vs Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Day 4 Live: Sri Lanka's Lead Passes 200, Rain Halts Play

kusal-mendis-ton-2807Sri Lanka will look forward to consolidate their position against Australia when the fourth day's play of first Test begins at Pallekele on Friday. Catch the live cricket score of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Australia here.

The hosts were 282 for six with a lead of 196 runs in the second innings, before rains brought a premature end to the play.

Kusal Mendis scored his maiden ton in the longest format of the game and was unbeaten on 169.

For the visitors, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took two wickets each. Meanwhile, Lyon became Australia's first off-spinner to take 200 Test wickets.

There is no improvement in the conditions and hence the umpires have called for an EARLY LUNCH. The 1st session lasted for a minuscule 7.3 overs before rain stopped play. However, it's impact is not to be underestimated as the Aussies got the big wicket of Kusal Mendis. Rangana Herath has made a quick cameo to stretch the Lankan lead to 228. Hopefully, the rain will break soon and we can see a resumption in play after Lunch. Do join us in a short while.

RAIN STOPPAGE! The rain is hardly visible but it has gotten very gloomy out there. Once again, the umpires make the call and signal for the covers to be brought back on. The players trudge back to the shelter of their dressing rooms. Stay tuned for further updates.
